The Porelle® hydrophilic membrane is a lightweight but solid, flexible layer that doesn’t allow water droplets to pass through - making it totally waterproof. But they do allow water molecules to pass (from things like sweat), which is what makes them breathable.

The water molecules are driven through the membrane because of the higher temperature and humidity inside the sock, glove or hat compared to the outside temperature. So by absorbing and removing water and sweat, the membrane is both waterproof and breathable to keep you warm and dry even in the toughest conditions.

Yes, be careful not to puncture the waterproof Porelle® membrane or it’ll leak. With socks, always wear them with appropriate footwear and avoid standing on stones and sharp objects that could puncture it. And with gloves, avoid thorns and other sharp objects that could also puncture the membrane. 

Yes, all of our products on the site are listed with a thermal rating of 1-5 with 5 being the most thermal. DexShell waterproof socks, hats and gloves are designed with a high performance, 3-layer design which not only keep you warm and cosy, but also windproof and waterproof.

When we say waterproof, we mean that the fabrics used in the DexShell lamination technology keep out water. It does not mean that you can submerge your waterproof socks in water or ride all day in the rain without experiencing some water ingress. 

The water may run into your socks from the tops, leading you to believe they’re not waterproof. But all of your products will keep the worst of the water out and protect you from splashes and any water that enters your shoe.

No! The Porelle® membrane is a permanent waterproof barrier that doesn’t require any treatment to maintain or restore its waterproof qualities.

We offer free delivery for orders £40 and over. For orders less than £40, delivery costs £2.99. These prices are only available for UK Mainland. Other areas such as the Channel Islands or Scottish Highlands may be subject to additional charges, so feel free to contact us before making your purchase. Yes, we offer a 3-year guarantee on all DexShell waterproof products bought via Aquaproofs.com. So if your product isn’t performing as it should or it’s lost its waterproofness, we’ll sort it out. To find out more or start a claim, see our Product Guarantee.

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging.
